Oroville Amateur Radio Society

November 7, 2008

The meeting of the Oroville Amateur Radio Society was called to order at 7:08 p.m. by Vice President Erik Bayer who led the flag salute.  There were approximately 23 members present and guest Gene Wright from Chico GEARS club. 

The Treasurer’s report was presented by Dorence Young.  Motionto approve was made by Bob Odom and seconded by Bill Cross.  Carried.   Dorence announced that dues are due and will be accepted at anytime.

The minutes of the September meeting were read by Dorence Youngand approved. 

Bill Cross reported on the LOVE ride considered to have a moderate turnout as it rained all day.  Bob Odom said the Sheriff’s Communication Unit was at the Visitor’s Center in support of the event.

John Hunt reported on the California QSO Party – CQ Worldwide was a worthwhile event. 

Bob Odom reported his repeater is up and working.  Frequency 146.655; negative offset and PL 136.5.  Bob mentioned that it would be desirable to develop a permanent site for the repeater.  The club will explore the possibilities.

It was announced the Veterans Parade would be Tuesday, November 11.  Bob Hewitt is the chairman for the parade. 

Saturday, December 13, will be the Light Parade. 

Possibility of changing the meeting night to the second Friday of the month was proposed for consideration.

Nomination of Officers will take place at the December meeting.

A “Ham Cram” session will be held at 8:00 a.m. December 6th & 7th at Oroville Hospital, Fireside Lounge.

Erik made a presentation on the value of FL Digi and the use of digital modes for ham purposes.  His class on the subject will start on the 18th of November at the Oroville Adult School on Table Mountain Boulevard.

Meeting was adjourned at 8:57 p.m.
