Minutes of OARS Meeting
March 7, 2008
The meeting of the Oroville Amateur Radio Society was called to order at 7:02 p.m. by President Larry Thompson. Bob Oden introduced John Gulserian, Emergency Service Officer for Butte County, who offered the program, The Emergency Management System.
The Pledge of Allegiance was recited. Approximately 25 Individual members and guests introduced themselves. The three new Extra Class licensees, Ed Thomas, Gary Clark, and Larry Thompson were given a special introduction.
The Treasurer’s report as prepared by Dorence Young was read by John Hunt.
The minutes of the February meeting were read and approved.
Howard Fairbanks has been asked to contact Lee Hutchins for the April program.
Members were reminded that Field Day will be the fourth weekend in June. President Larry asked for a volunteer to be the Public Information Officer. There were no volunteers at this time. Members were reminded that a joint luncheon with the Yuba-Sutter Amateur Radio Society to be held at the Gold Country Casino Buffet is pending.
Meeting was adjourned at 8:30 p.m.

Board Meeting
March 7, 2008
The Board Meeting of the Oroville Amateur Radio Society was called to order by President Larry Thompson at 8:40 p.m. Those in attendance were Vice President Eric Bayer, Secretary pro-tem Howard Fairbanks, Directors John Hunt, Bill Cross, Bob Oden, and Gary Clark.
Field Day was the main subject of the meeting and it was suggested that the most likely location should be the dam overlook parking lot on Kelly Ridge. John Hunt volunteered to operate side band and Bill Cross offered to operate a CW station. Gary Clark will operate 6 and 2 meters. John and Howard’s XYL’s will be asked to provide dinner. Possibly other XYL’s will help. The City of Oroville will be asked to make a proclamation again this year.
It was suggested that members support GEARS with the Wildflower event this year on an individual basis.
The subject of the missing club sign was brought up and Bob Oden said that he would have no problem having a new one made.
Eric Bayer suggested that the club have space on the website for individual members and it was also suggested that we have a member of the month featured on the website.
The meeting was adjourned at approximately 9:30 p.m.
