Minutes of OARS Meeting

May 2, 2008

The meeting was called to order at 7:06 a.m. by Vice President Erik Bayer and led the members in the flag salute. 

Minutes of the April meeting were read by John Hunt and approved as read.

Treasurers Report was presented by Dorence Young and approved as read.

Field Day will be held June 28 and 29 at the dam overlook.    Bob Oden will chair the educational table.  Dave Warner will pick up Bob Oden’s generator for the field day event.  Bob Oden will investigate the cost of a port-a-potty.  Linda Hunt will prepare dinner for Saturday night.  Bill Cross will get the key to enter the property. 

Erik recommends that we attend area events to present the club setting up a booth.   A motion was made by Bob Oden to follow this suggestion, seconded by Gary Clark and passed.  

Bob Oden will be in charge of the Sheriff’s Reserve communications for the Feather Fiesta Days Parade on Saturday, May 10, 2008 and would like several members to assist.  The meeting location will be 5^th & Mitchell across from the DMV at 9:00 a.m.  Operational frequency will be 147.55.  Suggested meeting at Cornucopia for breakfast at 8:00 a.m.

Gary Clark will make contact and promote amateur radio for the Boy Scouts and is going to become Merit Badge Counselor for radio and electronics. 

A j-pole project is to be conducted by Erik Bayer at his home

The business meeting was adjourned at 8:00 p.m. at which time a Digital Mode presentation was conducted by Erik Bayer and Jim Jennings.
